On start up my windows 95 osr2.1 operating system informs
me that I have a currupt FAT 32 file. Scandisk stops at
20% and informs me that it cannot fix the file.

What other tools/ work rounds can anyone suggest?

There is no such thing as a FAT32 file. Your error sounds like a disk drive
problem. What exactly is the message, exactly?
