i have a computer and the win95 disks that go with
it...it was running slow and had several programs i
didn't need, so i decided i would reformat the hard drive
with directions i printed off a website. i had the
bootup disk and cd to reinstall windows 95, but when i
reformatted and booted up from the floppy i realized that
the floppy has been converted into a win98 disk. i'm
assuming one of my saved over my floppy, i don't know if
that's possible. the label from it's purchase says win95
and the cd is win95, so now i don't know what to do.
when i restart it flashes win98 but won't get past ms
dos. i guess this was a bad idea.

The bootup disk starts the DOS system, that's exactly what it's
supposed to do. Once you're there, just put the CD in the drive,
navigate to it in the DOS session, and run setup.exe. That will start
the installation process.

If you can't access the CD, then go to www.bootdisk.com and download a
bootdisk with CD-ROM support. (If you have a very old CD that plugs
into the sound card, you're probably out of luck. The generic drivers
on these disks work for CD readers that plug into an IDE bus.)
